Vasiliki has thirty years of professional experience in covering and managing breaking news for Greek public and private digital media (TV and radio) and writing well researched and engaging articles for various Greek and foreign printed and digital media outlets like "Naftemporiki" newspaper, "Ethnos", "Proto Thema", "Kathimerini", “K” magazine, "Imerisia", "Ependytis", Cancerworld, Chemistry World, Euroscientist, etc. Working also as a public information and communication expert for universities and research Institutes she successfully raises the profile of their research and initiatives, landing stories on the Greek and international press and thus to the public and organizing outreach activities.
She currently contributes as a Teaching Fellow and Instructor at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (https://www.auth.gr/en/jour) giving seminars on Science Journalism at a postgraduate level and workshops on Science Communication for young researchers, while she is professionally involved in lifelong learning education and training with the National and Kapodistrian University (https://elearningekpa.gr/courses/the-art-of-science-communication) and the University of Peloponnese (https://visualeu.org/?lang=en).
The journalist continues reporting as a science writer on globally scientific advancements and developments, conducting exceptional interviews with experts in various fields of research (CERN physicists, European and Greek environmental scientists, EU Brain project neuroscientists, Max Planck Institute bioscientists etc.) She is very proud of interviewing such notable leaders as the Nobel Laureates (she has conducted 30 interviews within two years), while she is the only Greek invited journalist who covered the 67th and 68th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and the 5th, the 7th and the 10th Heidelberg Laureate Forum with a fellowship and the only journalist attendee from Europe in "Falling Walls" conference 2019 and 2022 with a fellowship .

Vasiliki Michopoulou holds a PhD in International Relations University of Peloponnese, Corinth (http://pedis.uop.gr/), Greece with a scholarship from Stavros Niarchos Foundation (https://www.snf.org/). Her PhD thesis on "Transnational Advocacy Networks" and especially on Media and Science Advocacy is unique in the Greek literature. She also holds a Master of Arts on Policy Management and International Politics from the Department of Political Sciences and International Relations, University of Peloponnese (http://pedis.uop.gr/) and a Bachelor degree in Biology from the School of Sciences of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (https://en.uoa.gr/). She has also a module certification of Video/Multimedia, of Data journalism and of Investigative journalism from the School of Journalism-Columbia University with a scholarship from Stavros Niarchos Foundation

Awards
Vasiliki Michopoulou has been awarded as the “Greek Science Writer of the Year 2017” by the Association of British Science Writers (absw) while she was a nominee for the European Science Writer of the Year 2017 (absw). She also received the “Woman Journalist of the year 2018” award from the VOTRE BEAUTE Magazine.
Recently she was included in the list of experts in the field of science communication and other relevant domains of the European Parliament
